Thats right and they also had the cheek to tell me last week....that my wage cap that I asked for (min £450 pw) has to come off and now if a scaffolding job within my locale is advertised for minimum wage that I must apply for it! Are they kidding me?? I took home £250 pw as a labourer when I started out...now qualified advanced and supervisor and they want me to work for less! You pay peanuts you get monkeys as they say....and I wouldnt supervise monkeys for peanuts either. Times are very hard, I wont deny and were scaffolders I know but dont take us for mugs!

i was a miner, and when i had to sign on,they asked how much i would like to work for,i said £400,at the time, they told me not to be silly,no ones on that much.just wondering how much they get paid.:D

Start your own firm mate see how much you pay your self a week.If you put your heart into it it is worth it though you will need as you call them the monkeys too.
we were all monkeys once its how you train and look after your men is the answer. If you have been in the industry for 12 years and think your good take on work mate, employ some men and as most people think about employers sit in your office coining it in ???????? Stop moaning about employers get your own buisness and then moan. One bit of advise treat even monkeys with respect if you do take on a buisness mate and get a good accountant. We all need monkeys this industry is full of them!
As you said wat can you do get some gear and get out there.

When I finallt got fed up with it I decided to go to college and do my nebosh. It was one night a week for 3 hours spread across 33 weeks. I haven't looked back since. All our work is based around scaffolding and I always make an effort to be fair.

the truth is the jobcentre staff earn peanuts so they expect you to do the same . a friend of mine used to work there and was on well under a grand a month . he used to charge his mates £20 a shot to actually sign on for them when they couldnt be bothered to travel to the job centre or were working cash in hand . there so important because they wear a shirt and tie and dont earn nowt so you should earn even less not wearing one.i personally dont think its worth the hassle signing on and usually just live off the money i have until something comes along . i realise this isnt possible for a lot of people with housing benefit and having kids

if you are a true scaffolder you will have a frock hidden away some wear put it on in public for a change and be a drag artist dont tell me ime the only one tipical just me again

i always say, never say i wouldnt work for that, life has a habit of jumping up and biting back, whatever the money is, so long as its better than the dole, which isnt that hard to beat you have to take it you always seem to find work when your in work, i find you get a more possitive mental attitude to get something better, take it on the chin it wont last forever, good luck keep trying mate

politician sure we could do better than the efforts we have at present, pellegrino you can guard me mate.
