What is Live Load?

The next time they talk about needing 5 kN/m2 you'll know what they mean and tell them how rediculous it is (unless its queuing for a friday night kebab on a scaffold platform or something)!:nuts:

A dead load is a permanent force, acting on a structure.
This includes the weight of the structure itself.

A live load is a changing, or non-permanent force acting on a structure.
This includes the force of the wind and the weight of things that are in or on a structure.

I always understood dead load was the mass of material build, the scaffolding and live load was mass loaded on to it, men tools and materials.

WHATS A SH*T LOAD
i have heard this often in my career as a Scaffolder especially when referring to Quantities of material required for a Job.
IE "we will need a sh*t load of gear"
how many should i get "just bring a sh*t load"

A sh1t load is actually an officially recognised weight/ number in the EU and US of A

Is a "sh!tload" the same as a "fair bit"? When asked what a loading bay would take I always reply a "fair bit."

i checked the phrases sh*t load and a fair bit,in the context of scaffolding in a thesaurus and it came back as "ITS GOING NOWHERE MATE".
So there we have it,thats better than any designer stamp of approval
