A friend of mine has just been fined by VOSA £30 for not having a spare battery in his cab for the torch he is supposed to carry in order to carry out his vehicle checks. He protested that he had on on his phone but they said it could be broken at any time.

As they are currently running at a loss how many more of these petty fines are they going to hit us with?

He was also told that all scaffold wagons now have to be sheeted at the back!

We got stopped by VOSA recently a very nice chap indeed.
After a quick look around he said he mustn't inconvenience us any longer and apologised and waved us on our way.
He even offered us a cup of tea from his flask while he checked the wagon out.

We got stopped by vosa recently and he was wearing a long brown overcoat.

He might have a point about the wagons being sheeted on the back, all you see on the side of motorways is the yellow padding.

They're nearly a fiver each so the foams go in the cab and the lab hides amongst the fittings on the back.

They make new rules up by the week! Every time we go through the blackwall tunnel they pull us in, first time they findsr us £100 for not have a net over the rear of the lorry to apparently stop the tube firing off! Not sure how fast your wagons are? But this is not possible with mine!!

Then a few weeks later we drove through with a net over the back of the lorry and they pulled us in as usual, this time they fined us ............ Yep, you guessed it, £100! For not having a net over the fittings and fives!! Apparently the new law is that you have to have enough holding your gear down, that if your lorry overturned nothing would fall off! Absolute joke! These nets they sell you are fixed to lorry with bun-jees!!

It's all about the money 'if your lorry over turned how the fu ck would a bit of netting hold back the gear :wondering:

just been fined for not having height indicator in cab even tho told him it was 10ft 6 they are worse than HSE

We used to have a height indicator but the lads have torn it up to make roaches for their joints

Vosa pulled us a few months ago my mate had everything in order but he apparently wasn't filling out his tachos properly. He had his last 30 days but they said there all wrong and they said its a £50 fine for each tacho. They decided to fine him half £550 in total. The best bit was when they was checking the lorry they said it needs a tail gate as the gear could come off. I laughed and said for the gear to come off the lorry would have to do 0-60 in a second.
His words were "true"
