Hi,

Just found out that parking attendants are set to become increasingly powerful after a London council announced plans to increase their responsibilities. Wanted to hear this forums opinion on the matter.

Wardens in Southwark could soon marshal community days, monitor cowboy builders and clamp down on illegal street traders.

They will also act as the council's eyes and ears to make sure roadworks are finished on time and utilities companies keep to schedule. Unions are worried that councils are giving parking attendants extra responsibilities for which they have not been trained.

A report to the council's cabinet stated that additional duties for its wardens will include the "control" of scaffolding, hoardings and "events on the public highway".

Southwark is following suit with other boroughs where attendants were re-branded as Civil Enforcement Officers.

How long till they start attaching fixed penalties for non-compliance:D

seems like everyone will be able to tell us what we can do and what we cant do,why cant we be left to regulate our selfs.its getting daft now.is there a camera crew out there somewere, seeing how far they can push crap on us,before we crack up.

Ahhhhhh nothing beats a good old toe-to-toe argument with an African traffic warden.

Happy days!

Me thinks traffic wardens will soon be wearing an armour plated uniform :D

Perhaps they are sub contracted by CISRS another blow to the industry

L.O.L

Might as well let them have a go at it, they probably have as much of an idea about it as most of the officials coming into the industry spouting their H&S bull.

The first time the yellow peril tell's me to put another check on the dropper is the day I give it up.:suspicious:
