Tips for getting work

Hi there,

I run a Scaffolding Recruitment company, so if anyone want to know the best way of getting work and keeping it, im here to help if you need it. I've been in the industry for 10 years and work with most of the main contractors out there, so im sure i could help in some way.

Cheers

(1) If a job advert has a phone number CALL IT. They are unlikely to call numbers left on here below the advert.

Thats a start anyone got any more?????

Good point, don't know how many times I've seen that on here. Another good one if the job is fairly local is don't wait for the "we will get back to you" go to the head office and kick the door in. I have been let down with that tactic a couple of times but it seems to work more often than not.

Never ever text a prospective employer with gobly gook that only you and your mates understand, call him and speak clearly. When you do finally meet them, brush your teeth and comb your hair and No, their not paying digs.:D:D

Reminds the story I heard about a well known scaff called Billy White RIP
He went to one of the Palmers offices down south where he asked the secretary if they were hiring?
" You will have to see the manager Mr Parott hes in that office"
Old Bill knocked on the door walked in and said
"Are you mr parott?"
The manager said "Yes. what do you want?"

Billy replied " Got any jobs? Got any jobs?
He was promptly told to f off and started with SGb the next day.

:D:D A true scaffolder, by the sounds of it :D:D

Yes Billy was a true scaffolder, staunch union man he would even collect money off us every week and made sure it was sent up north to help the miners during the strikes.
He passed away about 8 years ago from cancer but was running a power station job weeks before he died.
A ledgend and i dont know what he would make of the industry now

hahaaaaahaaa that story true or not is a belter made my night

The old boys that are dead and gone, would be turning in there graves the way our industry has gone. its a f**king joke, thats not funny at all:mad:
