Is the span too big to build a tower at each side and link them with beams avoiding contact with roof altogether?

Surely the roof trusses are the same as any roof ?
so cant you just lay boards across the trusses and build up as you normally would

Do them as per normal. Saw one up in cornwall last year. looked alright to me, Support boards crossing rafters.

Done a few of these over the years & normally u cant upset the ridge like you would wiv a normal lay down over- so theyre a mixture of throwin to a board @ the base of the stack - punch up &,then send ali beams from ur tower picking up from the punchins & sailing over the ridge for working the other side of the stack...unless u wanna do it the hard way wiv tube & spurs etc
Although the trusses are conventional the straw is sometimes a little spongy but normally goes back into shape the 1st time it rains

Wkhere abouts are you hantscaff

I have done one befor the roof will take the weight but use boards to stand on and be awear of the ridge they are made of fancy thatch work

Thinking normal throw in to punch off but using a sheet of ply to spread the weight on the straw to prevent denting. Thanks for all the help.

Good idea drill a couple of holes through it & use a couple of tent pegs to hold in into postion through the thatch as well
