Further to the introduction of the scaffold industry guidance TG20:08 the NASC have launched a new interactive guide. The guide has been issued by the NASC following the withdrawal of BS5973 at the beginning of 2011 in an effort to educate the wider industry and demystify TG20.

The new interactive guide has been developed in conjunction with CADS (Computer and Design Services Ltd) to help clarify what is and what isn't a 'Basic Scaffold' as covered in TG20:08 volume 1 and demonstrates safe methods of working to BS EN12811-1.

Some of the most frequent questions that have arisen from the introduction of TG20:08 are...

"What is a 'Basic Scaffold'?"

"Is my scaffold a 'Basic Scaffold'?"

"Does my scaffold require a design?"

The new TG20:08 interactive guide has been introduced to help answer these questions. Designed as an easy-to-use graphical learning environment, the guide will enable Scaffolding Contractors and Main Contractors to verify whether a proposed scaffold structure will comply with TG20:08 as a 'Basic Scaffold'.

The guide describes each TG20 topic with text, videos and graphics and leads the user step-by-step through the process. The interactive element of the guide provides a 3D environment where you can edit, adapt and customise standard scaffolds.

After editing your scaffold in the 3D environment you can check to see whether your scaffold Passes or Fails the criteria for a 'Basic Scaffold', and if it doesn't meet the criteria of a 'Basic Scaffold' it identifies the particular parts of the scaffold that does not comply.
