Maybe the wrong forum but this is the only one I know how to get on to, does anybody have any information on claiming back tax? I've always been paye but have paid for every corse and tool out of my own pocket and have reciepts. Someone mentioned you can claim back mileage as well?? Should I use better tax or not? I've heard of lads getting big pay outs then getting big bills off the tax Man too!

Welcome Carl
you could speak to better tax and they will give you honest free advice ,
They know what you can and can't claim back and will submit your return for you and claim back your rebate

Tbh m8 u need an accountant thats local to you & will sort it out on a fixed fee basis not this % of your rebate that some sharks charge. As a sole trader you shoulsnt be looking at much more than £300 per year- but its always better to chat to them in person & get a repore wiv em rather than a faceless voice on the end of a phone.
A decent accountant will introduce u to all the tax breaks you were prob unaware of , submit ur return & take his fee from ur rebate.

On the subject can anyone recommend an accountant/ firm I'm based in Central London?

I usually have a mate that does it but won't be this year as it stands I'm going with rift

Ps I've only got payslips ie how much I've earned/tax paid no receipts for travel/ tools etc so hopefully one who's not fussy if you know what I mean cheers

Bobby think you need receipts now as hmrc are clamping down and keeping our hard earned
As for better tax, been great for a few years then this year very poor performance

Cheers Pete just remembered you sent me a couple last year via pm the ones that buy it of you if you know what I mean might give them a bell

Brian Alfred assc Peter I'll give them a bell Monday just went thru old pm sound alright mate

Better tax has been good for me over last 5 years, they will tell you exactly what u can and cannot claim for. Think more people should go limited company, that way we can all claim back what we cant claim at present, and we would only pay 20% tax, def worth thinking about guys.
