You obviously didn't see the one that crashed into the pier on Shetland the other day. Nothing soft or unreasonable to expect safe transit to and from the workplace.
 
This is becoming a bit too often now. Its about time the oil giants provided a more up to date and safe transportation to and from site / work.

A newer design of copter perhaps...

All flying machines have some risk factor.
Even the ejector seat in the red arrows plane was described as rubbish by a coroner.
However I am worker on a design for a submarine that will use its torpedo bays to propel offshore workers from the depths of the ocean to the platform accomodation. Having a few problems convincing Shell and BP to invest on the prototype.
