Son begged drunk dad to slow down before 90mph killer smash

A DRUNK dad died in a 90mph car crash seconds after his son begged him to slow down.
Scaffolder Trevor McCabe, 52, died instantly after hitting an oncoming car as he returned from the pub.
His son Ashley, aged seven, who was in the passenger seat, suffered two broken legs and chest injuries. He was found clinging to his dad’s body and had to be cut from the wreckage, an inquest heard.
Ashley’s mum, Vanessa McClung, said her ex, from Selby, North Yorks, regularly drove after a drink.
She told the coroner during the town hearing: “Ashley said he had told daddy to slow down but he kept going faster.”
The other driver was badly hurt in the smash on the B1222 near Selby. Verdict: Accident.
