So much for elf 'n' safety: Scaffolding that looks like a stairway to heaven (if the builders aren't careful)


It is a city famous for its architecture and ancient temples - where construction methods seem to have remained firmly in the past.
This incredible photograph shows the death-defying lengths workmen in the east Indian city of Bhubaneswar are going to in building a new shopping mall.
Each of these 15 workers are seen perched precariously on panels of thin wire mesh, as they pass poles up to each other to put up a scaffold.

seem that 15 Mens life's are worth less than the hire of a crane---WTF :nuts:
 
Rope and wheel, is on it's way, maybe a little help???

dont spoil it thats what makes me laugh!!!! to many people wont question a thread on this forum incase of the replies spot on daz youve noticed lol!!! how come some havent got hard hats on lol!!!!

chances are they climbed the structure some of us old boys used to do a lot of climbing before the game was wrapped in cotton wool

What gets me is why they built the platform tower in the first place,they could have handballed the gear up the main structure.Saw the larger photo in last weeks Sun it showed the main building

Good point Rigger.
The good old days before harnesses, boots, helmets and SG whatever. The days when "manual handling" was just carrying tubes and boards.

Life and labour are cheap in the sub-continent and its not so long ago we used to send kids up chimneys lol
