Hello all,

I am seeking some advice and guidance. I have been approached by an old client in Holland to look for scaffolders (yes I, am one of those f**king recruiters). I have supplied welders etc but know nothing about your trade.

What I am trying too establish is the following: Is there a European recognised safety / skills qualification and if so is this something that most guys would hold. Secondly to attract high caliber individuals what kind of hourly rate should we look to pay?

Contrary to most peoples opinion of agency's we are not all pimps. It’s far easier to start off paying guys what they want and a hell of a lot easier to run a job with happy staff.

I’m not touting for prices so I can screw rates down, if anyone would prefer to discuss on the phone then text me on the following number and I will happily call you back. 07764600720.

Finally I would like to send a couple of sample CV's, to demonstrate the caliber of British Scafolders. As I’m sure most of you are aware there is a strong influx of Eastern European trades and often ridiculous pay rates accompany this.

If anyone is prepared to forward a CV it would be much appreciated, however please feel free to REMOVE your Name and contact details. Before the "conspiracy theorists" start speculating as to what scam I may be up to, let me reassure you I, am not. If I was amongst the many unscrupulous recruiters I would simply advertise a job that doesn’t exist and grab a load of CV's.

To simplify, I have a request for scaffolders, but I don’t want to waste peoples time by (a) Offering a rate that’s insulting and (b) advertising jobs unless they are 100% confirmed. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

thats cheap allan is there still a recession in south shields!!!

Seriously back in the mid 90s guys working in holland would be getting 11 or 12 pound an hour with no deductions.
I dont know if rates have gone up since then or if the tax procedures are stricter.
Holland didnt insist on recognised scaffold qualifications as it was quite common to get ECITB men over there and some of the agencies would even get guys ECITB cards.
For work in the refineries the Dutch have a safety passport called PBNA on which the UK HSE certs were later based.
There used to be guaranteed overtime and some of the northerners would work 18 hours 7 days a week(i should say be on site) while the rest did a more normal 10 hours and then enjoy what Holland had to offer lol

Your going to start something now, who didnt recognise the Ecitb card in the 90s offshore work, powerstations, refineries excepted it as a scaffold qualification in this country. It only changed because of the WAHR 2005 said training was required to be part of being ticketed,
but dont say Ecitb wasnt recognised.:notrust:

Sorry I didnt mean any disrepect to ECITB guys as I worked with many over the years. I meant Holland didnt insist on any scaffold quals in those days but would assume now the standards must conform to european rules that things might have changed.
