A MYSTERY “Superman” came to the rescue of a four-year-old girl whose arm was trapped beneath the wheels of a car.
Jasmine Zebbes was left screaming in agony after she fell off her bike into the path of the car.
On hearing her cries the man, believed to be a scaffolder working at a nearby church, ran on to St Michael’s Road in Aigburth.
He managed to summon the strength to lift the 1.4 tonne Ford Focus taxi so Jasmine could be freed.
Incredibly, despite the weight of the car, the lucky youngster escaped with just bruises.
Now Jasmine’s grateful mum is searching for her daughter’s anonymous rescuer to say thanks.
Teacher Debbie Zebbes, told the ECHO: “Jasmine was with her granddad riding her bike on the pavement when she fell off into the road.
“The taxi slammed on its brakes and the front wheel came to a stop on her hand and arm.
“She was screaming in pain and one of the workmen at St Michael-in-the-Hamlets ran over and, quick as a flash, lifted the car off her.
“I’m so grateful to him. If he hadn’t have acted so quickly, you just don’t know what might have happened.”
Little Jasmine, who is starting her reception year at St Michael-in-the-Hamlet primary school, was sent to hospital with a suspected broken arm.
But tests revealed just heavy bruising for which she requires no more than a course of painkillers.
