Hello everyone,

I work in a company in France. We re about to buy all around material. We have offers from Layher and Scafom.

Scafom is less expensive but look very similar. I would like feedback from you about this brand.

Thank you very much

ASHAMED as i am Phillio but if i was on a Budget i would get Scaffcom Hertel used it in Grangemouth Refinery and its everything that Layher is only better priced.
BUT YOU WILL NEVER BEAT TUBE AND FITTING FOR ALLROUND ADAPTABILITY;)

I totally agree that there is a place for system happy but real scaffolders can use what ever they have to get the job done ,
I have seen to many so called scaffolders that can't use tube and fitting ,
It should be your bread and butter as far as kit is conserend .

There are many producers of the ring type system scaffold. All pretty much the same apart from price and number of components available. The best thing about Layher was they used to be able to produce a new item quickly.
I am on a project now that has a ratio of t&f to system of 70% to 30%.

We are 100% tube and fitting but have always wondered how fast layher and other systems are compared. Without trying to highjack this thread can anyone give me a rough idea?

Hi,

The guy from scafom gave me some tips: A simple building (almost a cube), 1200 m2 30 tons of material requires 5 days with 3 guys.
What do you think?

We hired some of the generation layher equivalent last year. It was very good but I don't think it gets quicker until you get above 30ft. By the time you've got the gear off the lorry, which is a pain if you don't have an hiab and put the kicker lift in, which you need a nice level ground for, you would have your base out done with t&f. We have found the transom units and extending transoms with the brackets on give a great combination of the speed of system and the adaptability of t&f.

Straight runs, regular lifts to suit their 500 mm lift increment, simple scaffolds all the systems are a lot quicker.

The question is, do architects, engineers and the like design their structures to suit the access systems, the answer, no.

When they do t & f will struggle, the good news is generally the architects and engineers are only concerned with deliverables, so we can keep on trucking until the clever people work this out.

What when they do figure that out, choose a metric system, with divisible bays and load bearing ledgers to run in off.

This all will be a long time in the coming.

The moral of the story, Thank God for engineers and architects.

Any feedback about scafom? I am bit surprised, we dont use that much t&f here in France in construction.
We also have very restrictive rules. For example you have to be able to mount the bodyguard from the lower Level. We use single frame bodyguards for that (not tubes).
Above 24m you need to Provide calculation.

We have had gear from scafom and layher, and while layher is a lot more expensive we did get the support from them, scafom had little back up and when you needed a non standard part (like a bracket!) you was fecked, you get what you pay for!.
In system lahyer is with out a doubt the best on the market

Scafom Ringscaff is manufactured to exactly the same spec as Layher Allround so strength, durability and construction wise it is exactly the same. The difference is the number of components that are available; Layher has a lot more.

Scafrom made China
Layher made Germany
who would you trust for quality
Its not all about price think about service, back up,stock, parts and asset value
Layher have a big market share in France.WHY?
Big decision because if you buy cheap you cant mix different manufacturers parts in France as its illegal as you will know
shame UK are in the dark ages when it comes to mixing but to be fair UK is Layher and the cowboy suppliers have tried selling there wares in the UK and been blown out

Layhers very popular in the uk at least with companies and quite a few scaffs to be fair

I've used the Chinese version of layher ( not sure if it's called the above or not ) and it is shlt!! Braces don't match up, pin popped out of ledger whilst chaining down etc

we got 15 million Layher here right now , and second to tube and fitting its the best

I Like Layher, Its Almost As Versatile As Tube, There Temp Roof Is The Dogs Bollox.

As far as I'm aware Scafom manufacture Ringscaff in Belgium, not China. I've visited the factory and it is fully robotised and very modern, with all components adhering to the strictest regulations in the world (German). That being said, I actually prefer Haki Universal over Layher Allround or Scafom Ringscaf, mainly due to quicker and safer erection. larger bay lengths and increased strength.

used both only difference is how they secure the metal boards dont like the layher method with the li lows as we call them but its safer than the clips scafom use
