Scaffs in shorts

After the sunglasses thread I would like to know the thoughts of fellow scaffs on the wearing of shorts on the job ,like sunglasses they have their place but if you`ve been a bit of a fud and have a stupid tat half way up one leg then it`s longies for you I`m affraid.
 
I've gotta say, I really miss wearing shorts to work. It's the most ridiculous and unnecessary piece of health and safety. When long sleeve tops become mandatory it surely will be time to pack it all in!
 
thats true cass im the same fooking love shorts and heres one does anybody know the official reason why we cant wear shorts???? skin cancer ive been told by various h & s bods thats the reason same for shirt offf/sleeveless tops fooking stupid

if it was banned because were too sexy id understand but skin cancer tut and yes long sleeves will happen and prob boiler suits overalls at some point with you all the way cass ;on that one mate

Unless you are working either on the street, or on a (very rare) relaxed building site, then this is a moot subject.

Shorts are generally not part of your allowed working attire.
Legs to be covered at all times, sometimes, arms to be covered too.

there is a place on some jobs when more casual dress is not a hazard,but in the main the scaffolding environment is one where covering of the skin is advisable.

More & more main contractors are demanding long sleeved shirts and jumpers
 
Scaffs dressed like robo cop now, shorts for mobility and comfort and a hawaiian shirt will work as well as a hiviz.
 
Shorts. No top. A belt. And a pair of batters white reebok burglars . Summer2014bangemup.

PMSL, what do you think of the Hi Viz Kilt ?, the Manufacturers actually offer a line in the Kilts ( £eckin Crazy ), might be nice and cool in Oz lol ,

For scaffs, it appears that health and safety and wearing shorts is not an issue:

Case 16 - Building site has told employees that they cannot wear shorts at work

In my view, it is more about companies putting the working man in his place - treating him like a child, deciding what he should wear (or not wear).

Nobody bothered 40 years ago even if the working man worked with no top on. I'd like to return to those times. There's more important things for companies to be worried about.
