Never heard anyone call them a 'swizzle' mate, although I always called them 'squirrels'.
If you're new on a firm, I would just stick to the basics though. The lads will just think you're c**t otherwise.

I would class myself as a ' Structural Tubular Engineer' or a ' Tubular Technician'.

Doubles are a barney rubbles , clips could be pigs ears or half raps, old days *****. even older days full raps etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Christ my word for fanny got blocked out!!!)

:suspicious:

Funny you should mention, used them friday to clamp ledgers onto L shaped steel brackets, good also for fixing timber laths to scaffold if you need to fix plywood sheets for hoarding, security purposes.

My dad used to call singles 'kippers'.

I've no idea why - and he's dead now, so it remains one of the great unsolved mysterys of my life!

I think you're talking about a mussel clip mate - also know as a *****/fanny clip.

Bloody hell not allowed to say mi*ge! What's the scaffolding world coming to??

the proper term for a fanny clip is an oyster they're still used in boilers for fastening ledgers to boiler tubes
