The scaffolding was deemed unsafe after the collision

A section of scaffolding on a building in Exeter city centre has partially collapsed after being hit by a lorry.

Police and fire crews were called to the three storey building near the Harlequin Centre at 10:35 BST after the accident.

Queen Street and Paul Street were closed after the scaffolding was deemed unsafe.

Police said scaffolders had been called in to make the remaining section safe.

There were no reports of any injuries.

at least no one got hurt thankfully. any word on whether it was due to the lorry or was there factors within the scaffold that could have caused it aswell?

point taken teeside, but to be fair. i know not all scaffolders implement braces an a ties properly on the street. was it 450 back from the curb etc? not putting any badness on the scaffolders who erected it. just wondering if anything else was a factor? bulk timbers should have stopped it mounting the pavement in the first place.

Strip and re,erect the whole thing i'd say, corner plots are particulary prone to wagon hits though, they need to swing out to make sure the trailor gets round without cutting the corner:cry:

Not the best picture but looks a total nightmare to try and strip even off a cheery picker.
