SCAFFOLDING CALCULATING ?

Hi Guys,

Apologies if this post should be on another forum, but some help/advice would be appreciated. Firstly, I should point out that I'm not a scaffolder & hence struggling with calculations somewhat. We've taken on a big renovation project in Devon - a mill house & also a mill building. We're going to need a lot of scaffold for a long time, so it's obviously going to be much more cost effective for me to buy it. The roofs are going to have to be completely retimbered, so we'll need to carry the scaffold up & tin sheet over/wrap sides etc.

Wondering if there are any online calculators that would help us, without the need to purchase expensive software ? Or alternatively someone who is up for doing the calcs. for us at a fair fee ? I guess most would only recommend using plain tube & fittings ? Or would cuplock be any good ? I don't fancy kwikstage really - we're in a very wet river valley & it would rust like hell in no time I reckon.

Any thoughts/help much appreciated. I can provide more details/measurements if needed.

Legally, you will need a design from a competent person (i.e. not you!) for a scaffold with a temporary roof

Whomever does the scaffold erection would normally provide a design. Either in-house or from their favourite design house.

Big Devon based scaffolders are PSB. JEM and LTCGroup97
