Did anyone else get their invite to join the above, and is anyone thinking about supporting them?

I did attend a meeting @ dartford last year but tbh i wasnt impressed & certainly wasnt gonna part with cash just for a shinny sticker- in principle the ideas they have seem sound but in reality with no recognition from the hse, no funding & little backing they will struggle to become either a reality or as some would hope a competitor to the nasc....the whole event seemed to be more of a sales platform for the h&s consultancy run alongside the association by its director & the sales pitches & introductions of industry tag on companies such as panthea & hudson payroll -who all seemed to be hoping to sign up companies off the back of the meeting.

No m8 , the guy who started it is not an ex-scaff, he ran his own h&s consultancy & still does. Check out the link

I could be wrong & tbh would like to be - but from the meeting/event i attended, the conclusion i came to was that the idea of the association was initially sound & appealing but had no clear cut direction or path in which to attain anything- any materials that they rely on to issue to members is already openly available for free from the hse website with everything else via the nasc website. With no funding or technical abilities they will never be able to fully represent any potential members or come up with an alternative to sg4 or tg20.
the membership is £250 & for that the only thing you really get is a shiny sticker of a jigsaw piece!!
I know i may sound a little negative but after a 2.5hr drive to get there was disapointed that the hard sale was not of "what the SA could do for you" - but more of what mr candys saftey consultancy could advise you on within the confines of your company, not as an individual scaffolder. Then followed an introduction of a payroll company - who were so hopefull of the the prospect of potential clients that they had financed the roadshow of 3- 4 meetings. Followed by a representative of an alarm company who tbh agresive nature towards anyone who dared to question mr candy on either scaffolding issues or the benifits of the assoc.
my personel view is since its original launch it has failed to meet its membership target with no change to its website its hard to judge where its going or as a member what youd actually gain from it - its fair to say that out of the 30-40 people at the meeting only a handfull were scaffolders or ran their own companies & to my knowledge - although given the oppertunity to join- no one actually did
