if it is a real job and involves going any where near the keppel verholm shipyard
in Rotterdam for van der panne,

dont bother ..the one most dangerous place ive ever had the to misfortune worked at .

I agree there offshorescaff. Scaffolder graveyard they call it. Money to be made there but I would rather take my chance defusing a bomb than go back there.

It`s a place you have to experience really to get a feeling of how dangerous it is, when I worked there in the early nineties it seemed like there was at least one death a week,

Very true. They used to say you couldn't call yourself a scaffolder unless you had done an underdeck hanger in the Verolme Botlek.A few good guys lost their lives there. Must be 22 years since young Shaun died.

I cant say anybody diesd in the time i was there bit i did watch a polish lad fall through a system board. Luckily he was hooked on otherwise it were a 150 foot drop.
Hard place to work, especially in the winter.

THE BOTLEK is liken any other yard BUT when you throw in a multitude of people from all sorts of uncheckable refrences then it does become a bit dodgy while working on the rsso refinerie I stayed on a holiday park called citta romana and met some lads from arbroath who had just been started as Burners/platers and never seen a burning torch in their lifes that was in 1998
**** knows what its like nowadays;)
