Is it time we started our own Union or maybe joined up with another industry (riggers or and steel erectors)

I am not a militant per se, but with all the idiotic crap being introduced into our industry by Non Scaffolders and the influx of overseas workers along with the cutting of wages is now time we stood up and fight for our rights.

Lets boot out,
(1) agencies (2) dodgy wage payment schemes (3)Yearly touch screen tests

Lets bring in,

Fixed hourly rates for tradesman, say, £13.50 Part 1 - £16.50 part 2 - £20.00 Advanced.

Alrite Oz Bob, We have a movement called the SCCR,set up by scaffs on this forum,to take on the powers that be. No clarity in scaffolding and companies running all over scaffs. Check out the website,link on the right. Not a union. Membership £10. only

I agree with your idea in principal but would every scaffolding company in the British Isles adhere to these payments for the lads would they fxxk, they would undercut you to get the work and then employ more cowboys to carry the works out, im all for a decent wage structure for any good scaffolder but the mentality in this country is dog eat dog
