A STRICKEN builder was rescued by firefighters after dislocating his knee after he fell from a roof on to scaffolding below.

Valley Road in Solihull was closed while firefighters from Bickenhill station used a hydraulic platform to get to the injured roofer who was trapped on the 25ft high scaffolding.

The 43-year-old company director was then taken to hospital following the incident which took place shortly before 1pm yesterday.

Watch Commander Gary Alder said: “It was quite an unusual job.

“We were able to reach the casualty using a hydraulic platform and brought him down safely.
