We require a Trainee, Basic or Advanced Scaffolder to start ASAP in SOUTHAMPTON.

Paying £16ph for Trainee and £20ph for Basic and Advanced Scaffolders.

Same rate for basic & advanced ??? - hardly seems worth guys paying to get their advanced ticket as obviously not all roads are paved with gold

not this old chestnut again!!........do you say this because you feel a pt2 isint worth it or because an pt2 cant possible be as good as an adv scaffolder?? ive been a pt2 for over 20yrs and every adv scaff ive worked with (bar1) hasnt been at my level! we are all in it together so i dont see a problem.:noworry:

No chesnut...just an observation & thats your opinion as a part2 scaff rob - ive been scaffolding for nearly 30 years an advanced for 15 of them & thats whats wrong with the system. If your boss thinks ur a experianced guy and wants to pay you top doller for that then fair play u wont hear any argument from me about it. No more so than if your an inexperianced advanced & he doesnt wanna pay u top doller.....but their should be a paycsale to represent not the experiance but the qualification! & you shoulnt be able to to gain ur advanced without holding ur basic for a minimum of 10+ years anyway in my opinion.
Most guys these days pay for their own tickets as quick as possible to get a better wage b4 getting the experiance & believe that by investing in yourself then you should be able to recoup that investment over time with better wages . Personally i believe that we as scaffolders dilute our own wage by allowing agencies to dictate that wage structure allowing an advanced scaffolder to earn £4 an hour more than a trainee-and excepting that is a joke...reguadless of your own personal ability or that of guys youve worked with....surely u cant disagree with that
 
ofcorse you have a point.but with so many men fast tracking them selves through the card stages is wrong for me. your getting gold card scaffolders with no experience thus results in alot of men being over paid because their clueless.and for the record if a traniee worked with me and blew me away he is worth more than me.regardless of what card he has in his wallet(or purse depending on what part of the country one comes from!)
 
I just lost a guy last wk - similar sinario, been scaffolding for 5 years & payed for his own advanced. But has left me to go to another company who have promised him big bucks, if he was that good not only would i have not let him go but would av matched what they were offering him, as it is i'd be surprised if they honour their offer once the honeymoon period ends & the true extent of his ability becomes apparent.
But another guy who's a basic with good experiance & loyalty is being payed more & also i'm putting him through his hgv in the new year which will be followed by his advanced in the summer...cliche but you look after men that look after you.
 
There's always someone thats on a good rate and not worth it. Seen it on every firm ive been on.
 
tbh as long as your happy with what YOU earn i couldnt give a monkeys what other ppl earn, whether there useless as a brickie or shlthot. it winds me up when ppl moan about what other ppl are on its none of there business
