Lee Mann.
A SCAFFOLDER has been jailed for six years after a sickening attack on a nightclub bouncer.
Lee Mann punched Brett Kelly repeatedly, kicked him twice in the head and then jumped in the air to deliver a final stamp.
Enraged Mann, aged 23, then turned to other revellers in the CoCo Nightclub, Barnsley, with his fists clenched and demanded: “Does anybody else want some?”
Mr Kelly was left with a fractured skull and traumatic brain injury. He has a reduced sense of taste and smell, short-term memory loss and cannot drive a car.
Mann, of Edinburgh Road, Hoyland, admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent on August 29 last year.
Fiona Swain, prosecuting at Sheffield Crown Court, said the victim, a machine operator, worked weekends as a doorman.
There were about 400 people in the club in the early hours when Mr Kelly saw a fight between Mann and another clubber and went to separate them.
He got Mann in a headlock, but he broke out and they fell. Mann got on top of the bouncer and threw a number of punches.
Mr Kelly covered his head and did not fight back, but Mann got to his feet and then kicked him in the head ‘about twice’ before stamping on his head.
Miss Swain said Mann turned to go, then returned to deliver a second stamp. When nobody took up his offer to fight, he fled.
Mann was arrested later in the day. Just beforehand he texted a friend and said: “I think I’m going to get a visit off the cops.”
Paul O’Shea, mitigating, said the drink-fuelled offence was ‘out of character’ and Mann was normally a placid, hard-working, family-orientated man.
Jailing Mann, Judge Alan Goldsack QC said it was a ‘brutal’ attack.
