Scaffolder deaths.

What does everyone think about a fund for scaffs that sadly lose their lives at work. There must be someone on scaffmag who is willing to set up a fund/ bank account where lads can donate something every week/month out of wages.... Wife works nhs n what they do there for charity is called pennies from heaven. Say you earn in NHS for instance 2 grand n 97p per month. The 97p a month goes to charity. So why can't we do the same for fellow scaffs who sadly lose their life. Just a thought.

Thanks 4 reply bud. N I understand where ur coming from. But maybe 1 of the sponsors of this site so it's all above board. So come on people. After all it could be someone close to you. Hopefully not though. After all n at the end of the day what is a few pennies.... Feckall. N after all to help fellow scaff families in their hour of need. N to know we all truly feel for their family.:embarrest:

A good idea in principle my friend .....but in practice unworkable.

Would have to disagree with above comment.
I think that this is easy to implement and would be a great way for the industry to build a worthwhile savings pot for use solely by scaffolders and any one connected to the scaffolding world. But it should be used by only people that contribute to it so that all the scaffs that say "fcuk that im not puting in" will never get help from it if needed.
it could work on a very simple way. an App/DD that lets you pay £1 or what ever every week. that money get collated into a single "pot" then say 5 different people form a panel to pay out.
i personally would take the time to set it up if it was something that would appeal the the majority of the industry.

the laggers have it in their union that whenever theres a death then they all pay a tenner levvy(guess) and there are no opt outs, its a direct debit which if your not working then you dont pay.
THIS WOULDNT WORK WITH SCAFFS BECAUSE WE ARE NOT ALL IN A UNION AND HAVE A VERY IM ALRIGHT JACK ATTITUDE,WETHER THIS BE SHAFTING YER MATE FOR THE WEEKEND SHIFTS TO THE BOSS PAYING YOU A TENNER A SHIFT MORE "BUT DONT TELL THE REST"
Max if you and jeff get it sorted i will be more than willing to contribute;)

Scaff deaths.

:wondering:I know where ur coming from happy. But surely WE can sort something out between us scaffs. Like max said he was willing to take things on board. & more importantly if ur not in then sadly u don't receive. Simple as. At the end ov the day what is a quid a week/month. FECKALL. To me n a prob few more it just make a lot ov sense. N it could be the start ov something worthwhile. Just trying to do my bit.:wondering:

Sounds good but HH is right , we have no union in our trade. An example of what can be done if tradesmen work together would be how electricians stopped the umbrella company's being forced onto them in April , they quickly cabin'd up on jobs and held meetings all over Britain , and it was stopped in the space of a week or so , but scaffs couldn't do this. another example would be the SCCR , not many people were interested in that either.
