Just wondering if anyone is clued up about this cots course? Have a wee nephew wanting into the game and wondering if he can labour for 6 months then get his part 1 or does he need a cots course now? Cheers.

He'll need his cots course b4 they'll issue a labourers card - the cots course is a one day event normallt held at a training centre , although some companies are able to give it. The price is circa £110 but tbh just put him through his h&s touchsreen £17.50 then apply for a normsl site laboutets card ( not a svaff labourer) as this may be a cheeper way onto site - both site labour & scaff labourers ate lumited as to the height they can work at anyway- alternatively do the cots & apply straight away for his trainees card as this will allow him off the ground. He, ll then have 18months to complete his course

Thanks for the reply mate, I was thinking about doing that with the normal cscs card as I've seen lads doing it but I've been told as of April you can't get onto part 1 course without this cots course pish ?

From the 1st September 2015 you will not be able to attend a part 1 course without holding a cots course certificate for 6 months. have a look on the CISRS website.
