Is there anyone out there had problems when hiring scaffold equipment from hire companies, like not taking things off hire you have returned. Not giving you returns notes.

Damien , we never seem to return what we hired even though we count it , its only their count back at the yard they use , so end up buying x amount in the end , try and avoid hiring if you can its a bit of a pit fall .

Oh yes
Make sure YOU give them YOUR list of materials you return
As you will be charged the full price for any losses or damage

The Hire company executives on some companies set sales targets to their staff to achieve their bonuses. Hire losses charged against you are an easy way of making up their sales totals. This will seriously impact your profit as in most cases of contracts for hire and erect you will be responsible for the loss of your material. Best when returning any large amount of hired material to count off the equipment with the hire co's staff and agree the return. ( I have also known yard staff to deliberatly miss off fittings to sell on elsewhere later) best be careful out there.

The big G is famous for it. Keep your eye on them Damien count everything they deliver as they will try to rip you off at every opportunity.
Another trick is sending out unpainted gear and refusing to accept it when it goes back saying it's not theirs.

had this problem last year, had a load of boards on hire and they was not the best but useable, sent them back when finshed with and got charged for about 40, saying we damaged them.

Giving them your list works for us, also had to take a few pictures of newly delivered boards that looked more like swiss cheese, Damaged Beyond Repair is another thing to watch and ram it back down their throat if they try and hit you with that one.
