We are working on a job and have been asked to erect a loading bay using gates that open outwards and not up and over, but can't seem to locate anyone who supplies such gates? Does anyone know where we can get these type of gates in the essex/london area?

I have never seen an outward opening gate?
I find it hard to see how it would be safe to use such a product.

What is it that is being loaded onto the platform that will not permit the use of a standard gate set?

Ive never seen an outward opening gate and as Alan says, how would this comply with TG2013 along with BSEN 133774.
We have even heard news that all loading bay gates should be prefabricated rather than made up with tube and brickguards as some on the market

absolutely amazed is this your company seems to me the tail is wagging the dog.tell this stupid f.uck if he can find em you will supply them as long as he is going to f.ucking open them and take all responsibility for any accidents that will occur

They may exhist but ive never seen them either- it maybe practicle to fit hoist gates to the loading bay, but this will open a can of worms about how to open & close em on an open edge safely.

never seen them either
what would be the benefit of a gate opening outwards anyways ,
the forklift divers can damage the up and over ones without any trouble as it is

Interserve, Or Deborahs,Supply Them Only Fit On Kwikstage Though, They Fit On The Outside Pressing On The Loading Bay,

Never heard about or seen open out loading bay gates. I cant possible see how it can be safe to open them. Your in affect causing a fall hazard with no protection, unless the operative is going to wear a harness like us.

Correct Scaffy, It cannot be safe to open the gates outward, WAH requires edge protection and this is clearly missing in an outward opening gate. Harness does not stop you from falling where a gate should. If it is determined that the gate is not a requirement due to the harness the same logic would need to apply to the rest of the scaffold and does not.

Again I am not familiar with outward opening gates (other than hoist) but if they are available they would need to comply. The ethos is clearly defined within TG20:13 Chapter 12

This man Alan reade. Deserves a medal. This is one man who knows his onions. Nice one Alan for your knowledge mate. Wish I had been your apprentice in your day. No offence lol.

One benefit of the old saloon style opening gate is if you are unable to load it square on. I have seen them used when the forklift had to arrive 45 degrees to the job and an up and over couldn't be installed. The downsides were plentiful though, ssow, signs and tool box talks for all users became a pain after a while.

Alan EveryDay is a School Day
but i have learned plenty from you and many others on this Forum
well Garry Adams and HaveSpanner to be precise:eek:

And where do you think they got the information??:weird:

I remember reading with great interest one of your stories many moons ago & the NASC critics thought you were mad until they checked that the NAOPB Certificate was the genuine article.

Were the pyramids built INSIDE OUT? 0ne senior Scaffold Engineer claims ancient Egyptians built the burial chamber first and then worked outwards
For centuries it was thought the Egyptians built the pyramids using ramps which

Means millions of blocks would need to have been carried up the ramps.

A Dubai / Cambridgeshire based Scaffold engineer conversant in Hieroglyphics, claimed that this theory is ‘impossible’
because the ramps would need to have been a quarter of a mile long or would have been too steep an incline.

Claims that they laid a core inside the pyramid before adding an outer casing &
the top was then finished off using steps and a form of scaffolding approved by the National Association Of Pyramid Builders

full respect fella when can we expect your new book to be under what title & available on the Library shelves?

I used the same logic when offering designs for Polo mints, start by making the hole and then create the mint around it!
