Job purpose
To successfully deliver prompt financial agreement of scaffolding contracts, by adherence to the Company’s Procedures and implementing sound commercial management to protect the exposure of the Company to financial risks. Responsible for on site measurement, preparation of variations and agreement of applications for payment, all under the guidance of the Commercial Manager.
Responsibilities
•To ensure the full and proper implementation of the Company’s Procedures under the guidance of the Senior Quantity Surveyor's and Commercial Manager.
•To co-operate with, report to and implement the reasonable directives of the Senior Quantity Surveyor's and Commercial Manager.
•To ensure, in consultation with the Senior Quantity Surveyor's and Comercial Manager, that all necessary notices and submissions required by the various forms of contract are given in an expedient manner so as to protect the Company’s position in its trading activities.
•To ensure, in consultation with the Senior Quantity Surveyor's and Commercial Manager, the prompt and regular preparation of payment applications including for the timely submission of all necessary measure / variation / additional cost claims.
•To record the impact of variations through the collection of appropriate allocation sheets, time records, diaries etc all of which are prepared by the operations team.
•To assist the Senior Quantity Surveyor's and Commercial Manager in the preparation, negotiation and settlement of interim and final accounts.
•To ensure that a high personal standard of professionalism is evident to all external stakeholders, peers and subordinates in the day to day management of the contract activities.
Knowledge skills & experience
•Proficient knowledge of contract scaffolding measurement and valuation.
• Proficient in reading drawings, specifications and knowledge of construction processes.
• Good knowledge of standard forms of contract and principles of contract law.
•Ability to assist in the production of accurate monthly cost and value reports & financial forecasts.
•Knowledge of industry legislation.
•Knowledge of cost planning techniques.
• Holding a relevant CSCS card.
• Holding a full clean UK driving license.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
• Extensive experience of working on live contracts.
• Experienced in the preparation of measurement for eventual final account agreement.
• Technical knowledge of the scaffolding and construction industry.
• An appreciation of commercial processes associated with live contracts.
• An appreciation of risk in contract scaffolding process.
• An appreciation of the relevance of the construction programme/critical path.
Person
•Ability to negotiate with main contractors.
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team;
• Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people;
• Understanding of H&S issues at work
• Ability to work in a team environment and to interface with stakeholders.
