If your cheap enough you can win 100%. The proof of the pudding is if you can continue the momentum over say a 5 year period with all taxes paid, and grow as a company. That is the difference from being busy fools or foolishly busy. Always remember the only people that make big profit from cheap construction is the client.

Thats a good way of working HSWT , you gotta look at things like travel , access , hire period , how straight forward the job is , and last but not least do you need the job if so then win it if not then put a good price in . We have customers we do work cheap for because they will pay when the job goes up , that simple :D

Our "conversion rate" is on an average about 70%. And before people start saying we are to cheap, we are quite expensive. For example our labour cost is marked up by 85% and our labour costs include packing / unpacking and loading / unloading the scaffold in the yard. We allow 30% of the install / dismantle time as yard time. Our scaffold for hire cost is marked up by between 200% and 25% depending on the amount of scaffold required.

Reasons that our conversion is high;
1. Fast, professional, detailed responses.
And when I say fast I mean same day. We use an estimating program where we are able to punch in height, length, width and weeks of hire and other information such as material handling time, site inductions and any other contigencies as may be required. This is printed out and typed up and emailed to customer. If we win the job our estimator will then go and have a look at the job. In the quote one of the conditions states that the price is indicative only and price will only be confirmed once a site inspection has been undertaken.

2. Target Market
We try and aim to work for customers where there is not too much competition. A lot of the time our quote is the only one the customer receives.

3. Repeat Business
Most of our customers keep coming back because of the professional attitude of Australian Scaffold Pty Ltd. Our scaffolders are dressed in a company uniform, there is no swearing or misbehaving on site, and our customer receives a thank you card from us thanking them for the work.

In today’s competitive world, scaffold firms must think like a 1st class business. Where you are constantly looking at your profitability, target market, advertising etc .

Simples, now try that in London.

Would have no work !!! Its all about the price or bung in london

It's a fair point though. We all think we are first class or we wouldn't be doing it.

:laugh::laugh::laugh: leave it out they sound like they work for quick fit

haha, not as quick though.:laugh:

Believe it or not though Phil we were asked to price a job because the owner was impressed with the way the boy's conducted themselves on site. He reckoned he was fed up with the city scaffs nicking all his gear, the funny thing was it was the day after they were flung out the digs they were in for harassing a wee waitress. :laugh:
