What percentage of quotes actually turn into actual work , the company i work for has roughly a 40% succes rate when quoting work , what about you guys ?
Personally about 32% but as a company its about 22%
Are your prices lower than other pricers in your company or do you all work off the same basis?
Our "conversion rate" is on an average about 70%. And before people start saying we are to cheap, we are quite expensive. For example our labour cost is marked up by 85% and our labour costs include packing / unpacking and loading / unloading the scaffold in the yard. We allow 30% of the install / dismantle time as yard time. Our scaffold for hire cost is marked up by between 200% and 25% depending on the amount of scaffold required.
Reasons that our conversion is high;
1. Fast, professional, detailed responses.
And when I say fast I mean same day. We use an estimating program where we are able to punch in height, length, width and weeks of hire and other information such as material handling time, site inductions and any other contigencies as may be required. This is printed out and typed up and emailed to customer. If we win the job our estimator will then go and have a look at the job. In the quote one of the conditions states that the price is indicative only and price will only be confirmed once a site inspection has been undertaken.
2. Target Market
We try and aim to work for customers where there is not too much competition. A lot of the time our quote is the only one the customer receives.
3. Repeat Business
Most of our customers keep coming back because of the professional attitude of Australian Scaffold Pty Ltd. Our scaffolders are dressed in a company uniform, there is no swearing or misbehaving on site, and our customer receives a thank you card from us thanking them for the work.
In today’s competitive world, scaffold firms must think like a 1st class business. Where you are constantly looking at your profitability, target market, advertising etc .
