QFS Scaffolding Ltd are deeply saddened by the events which took place on Tuesday 20th January 2015 at South Place, EC2M where during the normal course of dismantling the scaffold, two pedestrians were injured by a falling scaffold tube.

At this time our thoughts are obviously with the two injured women and their families and we wish for a full and speedy recovery.

Currently there are several lines of investigation being undertaken along with our own internal investigation.

QFS will co-operate fully and openly with these investigations and will make public our findings once complete.

We sincerely hope that any conclusions will help prevent incidents like this happening in the future. Whilst the company as a whole is affected, we are conscious that those members of staff and operatives closely linked with this project will need to be given additional support.

I certainly hope that the two pedestrians involved make a speedy recovery, and your attitude to accident investigation is certainly to be applauded. I for one, look forward to hearing your findings.

This is a tragic occurrence. I personally applaud the above statement. That certainly shows a great company in being pro-active. Yes I've read bits about arrests ect. Personally I cannot comment but a brother of our fraternity could be looking at a custodial sentence for going to work.
Yes I'm also sorry about the 2 pedestrians but we need to ensure our brother is kept out of jail. Come on let's be honest and there is not 1 thought in my mind that this was intentional.

My mate that knows said he was a decent geezer !!

No offence here but stating he's a pis head is complete b**locks. I don't know many Scaffs who do not enjoy the odd alcoholic beverage.

Support not slate is the issue of this matter.

Now where's my firkin whiskey cos I enjoy a drink but I'm not a so called pis head. 😡

All 3 were decent men, just a freak accident. The most important thing is that the women injured make a full recovery.

Those who know nothing!!! The fella is in bits about what happened!!!! God help working with with you if anything happens!!!
(Yeah rumour is officer he's a right pi@@ head!!!

Yeah good on you qfs and the above posters think rc is right in what he's saying its most probably (hopefully) decent blokes and it's an accident!!

As for being a plss head or gear head etc 7/16s spot on we all love a bit of the both and seem to get branded if something goes wrong as it's makes them an easy target but we have all come in after an all nighter and getting on it at work/ pub lunches and so forth if this incident is down to one of the two I'd personally be a lot more careful and considerate to others in the future, if I'm honest was roping gear down today in kensington high street and shltting myself, I've seen and read about accidents in the past but this one has stuck with me in truth

As I've posted on an other thread about my mum nearly got killed buy a flying tube also a woman in her 50s I hope the 2 make a speedy recovery and qfs once it's been determined what's happened please let us know to try and avoid things like this. Again great post

The recriminations are best left for others.

Is there any news on the condition of the women involved?

The fact is the moment we start work, we put ourselves on the line. Anything dropped from a fitting to a 16ft tube can result in serious injuries. The lad, whatever his background will have to live with what happened that day and that could happen to anyone. So support the lad, and the business as their reaction is commendable and hopefully another one of us will not be in that situation.

Great post reu!

Traditionally scaffolders have always look after there own and I was brought up that way shows what the blame culture has done to us feel bad now id always stand up for a fellow scaff so yeah really hope he's ok

Absolutely spot on. "There but for the grace of God go I". If any long surviving scaff can say he has not dropped anything or had a near miss then they've led a very very charmed life .

street work will always come with the added Dangers of dropping or kicking something off the scaffold while there are pedestrians.
my heart goes out to the lads involved,as does my thoughts for the 2 ladys involved.
LET HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE was muted around 2000 years ago(his Da was a carpenter/scaffolder) and its still the same today.;)

Bibical scripture on the scaffolders forum........... Doesn't get any better than that ;)

Firstly n hopefully the two ladies r ok n make a speedy recovery. Let's not make assumptions until a full inquiry is carried out. If the lad was pissed or on drugs.(innocent until proven guilty) hopefully clear of both. But we all know that the slightest snag on hoisting or lowering tubes is feckin dangerous for whoever is underneath or in the vicinity. Hope everyone concerned is ok.
