now on a site doing putlog scaffolding - we have to put in kicker lift and brace from bridle to kicker lift. Someone said to me it is every third standard I say every alternative standard, who is right?

me think if standards are max @ 1.5 mtrs apart every 3. if up to a max of 2.1 mtr apart every 2. don't nail my boots to that though.

Where are you based mate? Didn't think putlog was still used? I've certainly not seen it for a long time.

When I done putlog before we just underslung an inside ledger all the way round the first lift and put dog legs, from the standard to the undersling. This was done on every other standard. Only the first lift was dog legged. The bays were roughly 6 foot.

Putlog still thought at CITB/CISRS Centres…still got its place according to the powers that be...

It did my head in to be honest, I hated relying on the brickies to do their job right so I could do mine. Lovely to strip mind.

Goulda, when you say kicker lift,d you mean single ledger running round bottom of standards??

I'm pretty sure it's not called a bridle tube. Kicker is the best on offer for what it is

If you have standard spaces of 1.5mtrs every 3rd leg centres of 1.8 every other bud.

only ever seen one up in Montrose in 1990
i was working as a young upstart on an extension to the Glaxochem Plant and the PUTLOG was erected on the Gable end of a house.Apart from the half shift at CITB HILLINGTON were we fuucked about with Putlog thats all i know.
EVERYDAYS A SCHOOLDAY ON THE FORUM;)

I done a few back in the early 80s for house building ,
I was never a great fan of it but it seemed to work well and gave the scabby bricklayers a nice wide scaffold to work on

jst normal braces on base lift every other standard

Putlog scaffolding is not ledger braced, except below the first lift, where ledger bracing is required at alternate standards for stability during erection of the first lift.
In order to fix the ledger bracing at first lift, a foot tie should be connected to the standards with double couplers approx 150mm above the base plates. The ledger bracing is connected to the foot tie and the underslung inner ledger at the first lift height using double couplers.
Hope that helps!

Sack the foot tie, just go from the bottom of your standards with a swivel to the underling on a double. Every other standard. Making more work for yourself putting foot ties in etc.

HSWT Same same fella in Putlog rewards and putlog adaptor use - will tell a story at Scaffs binge ball dec 2016 (doubt any interested) of my last experience while on the tools,1 man crew erecting Putlog (adaptors & spade ends)scaffold for new build bungalow on pricework.

On another not the putlog adapter fits perfectly between the trigger and Handle of the diesel pump meaning you don't have to stand there filling the tank up holding the gun !!!!
