Publican seeks scaffold

ANYONE got a spare scaffold?

A Scalby publican needs one to use as a stage for a charity bash.

Dave Wilkinson, who runs the Nags Head, is appealing for a scaffolder to lend and erect it on Saturday 20 August.

That’s when he will mount the second annual Nagsfest, with about 10 acts performing for free in aid of Help for Heroes. Mr Wilkinson says the scaffolder who provided one without charge last year is busy doing the same thing for a Whitby event this year.

Last year’s Nagsfest raised £2,500, he adds.

This year’s will start with three acts playing an acoustic session: Andy Jackson, Issy Zarb and Emily. Following them, and performing until 11pm, will be Dustin’ the Blues, Stairwell 17, the Algerinos, the Elektras, Sugarlicks, Infinity and Stray Scene.

If you can help, ring Mr Wilkinson on (01723) 373229.

I would love to support such an event especially for such a good cause. It does bring up one boring point though, are we insured for such things? I do a thing here a sort of Iron Man with a load of big galoots swimming, cycling and then running. It has got bigger and bigger every year and the main topic of conversation is how much money's worth of bikes are sitting on my rack. They have also asked me to donate a stage, but again I'm just unsure as to whose liable at events such as this. I'm probably turning into an old woman but best to check all these things out before getting involved.

Very wise AOM my insurance dont cover me for spectator stands , or Demolition , or Asbestos work so it is worth checking ;)
