Hard to say exactly from a quick look at a few pictures, but off the top of my head, on the first picture you may want to get rid of the rakers and fit proper ties. Maybe check the angle on some of that brace, my favoured way is single bay. Double handrails have been around for quite a while now and maybe even check out your lift heights. The other pictures look much the same with what looks like no inside hand rails and the droppers look to be running at an interesting angle. Not an exhaustive list by any means, just what jumps out.

Most of your issues run through all of your scaffolds and they relate to quality of erection.
Its at a pretty low level.
Pic 1)
Raking tubes poor quality and to far apart
should be ties to building
sway braces, too many, these should connect at the node points
no sole pads
external ladder over 4 lifts
single guard rails
lack of ledger braces
joints in standards in same lift
gaps in toe boards
Pic 2)
Check butts missing on droppers
Nothing level or plumb
where's the decking?
Pic's 3&4)
Rakers scaffold should be tied to frame
again poor bracing and gaps in toe boards
cant see a ladder in pic 3
Cant tell but inside guard rails look to be missing

Your guys look like they need to be trained in the basics before they do any more work
regards
Alan

i haven't got a fookin clue what is going on with that rig job.. hurt my eyes just looking at it

Think I summed it up on my comment on the independent pic" Looks great when was it erected 1969?"

The question should not be what's wrong with the scaffolds but rather, what's right with them.

The answer's not much btw.

on the water tanks iam very sure what looks like man made ladders out of tube is a no no,there should be no unsupported raker tube not exceeding 3mtrs raker tube should not less than 35% looking at the job over the drink nothing more than a demo job and the independent well unsupported spurs exceeding 3mtrs single handrail not tg20 recommended sway braces so if this is what you can see on the picture would ate to see the things you cannot same as the drink job demo, fek it all demo this looks typical of a jobs that go up in guanna with the jiggerboos

ok to all who did leave a comment i wanna say a big thank you, i did learn a couple of things, and i must say that you all have been really helpful, some of the points made are simply awesome , about the basics of scaffolding, for someone who did these jobs above, how long will it take to learn the basics in some of your respective countries, and would you say he's liike got a long way to go in the scaffold and access industry or justa few brush ups and he's good to go

For the scaffolder in question..

He needs to attend a citb part 1 which is a two week course, and then a two day assesment for his qualification. He then repeats this process for his part 2 6 months later. Having a part 2 card will give the so called scaffolder in question enough knowledge to erect a CORRECT and SAFE scaffold, and hopefully we'll get rid if these dreadful jobs.

I wouldn't worry too much,i see a lot worse than this weekly oop north lol,and we wont mention the London leaner's lol:D

As Den says Ninja, there is a fair bit of official training to be done in the UK before you get set loose with a set of spanners, usually takes us about 2 years to train an apprentice. The jobs erected have a long long way to go before they would be deemed acceptable here but to be honest the guy who erected them wouldn't require that much guidance to sweeten out the bumps.

to be honest i think your scaffolders are trying to hard NOT !! id fookin sack the lot ov them and give them chefs hats

its a simple case of a little knowledge is dangerous !!get these men trained properly and at least a couple of years on the job training with time served scaffolders.please do this before u let them loose with a spanner again.

scaffolderninja what is your association with these so called scaffolders? Even a thick bricky would know not to go near these jobs.

Ahem......some bricklayers are not thick.....some are complete fuckwits who eat there own sh1t while staring at an orange juice carton for hours because it says concentrate on it.....thought id clear that one up job done :D

The only good brickie is the one that gets a beer in, there's one in my local I've known since I was 18 every time I walk in it ' oh and a fosters for the scaffolding ****!!' Even it's a barmaid serving fooking peasant lol he's the only decent one alive

scaffolderninja in what context are you a scaffolder coz you would know what was wrong with them yourself if you were a proper scaff or are you a friend of somebody who has got you a job in nigeria?
