Hello Everyone, new to Forum, didnt know it ever exsisted.

Iam a scaffolding contractor from Basingstoke Hampshire, who carry out 90% of business with Taylor Wimpey !

We are also a safety products company who invented the plastic hi density sole board with recess and the Hi vis scaffold tube cover.

Does anyone have advice on design drawings, we have been told by Wimpey that all 3 storey units now have to be designed and drawings have to be submitted onsite and an advanced gang has to do the job ! trouble is i have 8 part 2 men on the job, but no advanced !

Also anyone got any knowledge of getting tickets without travelling miles ? we have 3 men with families who cant stay away and the nearest to basingstoke is kent ! about 85 miles away, they want to go there and back in a day !

Anyone need any info on our sole boards and tube covers please shout

Hi and welcome Den, Have a word with Dave Abraham of SCAFFOLDING CONSULTANTS | SCAFFOLD DESIGN | SCAFFOLDING TRAINING | SCAFFOLDING EXPERTS hes based in warrington but he might know others in the training business who are near to you, and will give you some advice. unfortunately there is no funding for advance ticket. The other way, is to employ 2 advanced scaffs to be leading hands so youve got an advanced in charge of the job at all times, never heard of everyone being advanced in the gang before most firms like one to be advanced, but the work your doing isnt advanced work, your suppose to be able to read a drawing on your part 2.

As for design and drawings have a word with chris at Scaffold Design Scaffold Designer Engineer Scaffolding -South England : Home Page. hes based in the south. There both members on the forum so you can pm them.

Hope this is of help and good luck m8

Welcome to Scaffolders Forum, Den.

There's been loads of talk here about the industry changing re CISRS etc etc... and how further training is limited to certain centres.

Check out the talk on threads for SCCR and the very long ECITB thread.

Hi Platinum and welcome to the forum. Check out with Chris but the scaffolds you speak of sound like they could be built and fall within the basic scaffolds in TG:20 08 therefore so long as you can achieve the tie pattern, should be happy days. If it's new build site work and you need loading bays then these will need designs, but generic designs will do if all loading bays are the same. I agree with T. ANIMAL with regards to your advanced men situation, but as is normally the case the main contractor normally dictates what they want and the poor scaffold contractor has to jump!!

Hi and welcome

Hi Platinum

Welcome to the forum

With regard the design for houses it is a bit tricky at the moment.

Traditional brick built scaffolds with progressive lifts would be covered as a basic scaffold under TG20:08 so would not need a design.

Timber frame houses are free standing and can be subject to design. See the following link from HSE.

Construction - Scaffolding - Scaffold tower industry health & safety

We are finding a lot of the main contractors are now starting to ask for designs for anything over 3 lifts for no apparent reason, except that they want them.

All the best

Chris Eng
