Iv just realised my part 1 expires in October but I thought it was December.. we are to busy at work at the min to take 2 week off. Will I still be ok to do the course after it runs out or will I have to complete the course before it expires? Cheers

ok bigdogs have you renewed your part 1 since taking it you can renew your part 1 bud now training courses will tell you that in a certain amount of time your part 1 will expire and yes it will.
but I can categorically tell you this now once you have taken your part 1 no one can ever take this qualification off you and before anyone jumps on this thread and says that I am wrong they can contact citb bircham newton and they will tell you this is true .
the only thing is you are only allowed to renew it once bigdogs and you must do this before it expires bud and training colleges recommend that you follow your part 2 before it expires the second time round all contact information for any inquiries you can find on the back of your card good luck bigdogs and book your part 2 when its quiet

You can do it after its expired. I did mine like that. Have you already renewed your part 1 once? If not phone up and ask to renew. If you have already renewed it then email CISRS explaining your circumstances and it is possible to get it renewed for a second time. Again I done this before.

As in your situation you wont be able to complete the portfolio (legit anyway) for the part 2 as you will have no valid Part 1 to allow you on the spanners.

But for me, take the time off and get it done. Look after yourself mate. No one else will.

Iv had the extension and iv phoned them and they said they can only do it the once. I will ring again see what they say. Cheers lads

You can get extensions but in my experience, there's always a reason to put things off.

I would say get it sorted, out of the way and move on to the next hurdle / challenge. You'll be better off for it.

im working with a boy who is going through his part 1 again because he went too long without getting his part 2 scc. he has it in writing from ncc at inchinnan.

My experiance has been different to the advuse given to you from scc & wasted & its something ive looked into several times putting guys like urself through their tkts its true you can get a extention on ur pt1 for another 18months if you havent completed your training & its true that in exceptional circumstances they do state that they will re-issue a 2nd time although ive never known this to be offered.
in all cases that we've requested assistance we've always been met with the same unhelpfullness & statement.
reguardless of completing the part1course if youve not completed the pt2 within the designated time scale than the training has to be restarted all over again indeed they have even refunded previously booked course fees when its been discovered our candidate pt1 has expired !
As well as that & to add insult to injury they will only issue the opperative with a labours tckt reguardless of the fact that technically they are still a trainee - & they wont issue the labourers card unless the opperative has completed his h&s touchscreen & done a 1days COTs course.- the only advise I can give you is find a training centre outside of the citb such as simian & speak to them they may allow you to prebook a course

makes me blood boil really, why any working scaff has to renew tickets gained. Other trades dont.

bigdog by too long i mean he had an extention then never went for part 2 again due to going away from the trade to work with asbestos, money he couldnt say no to now he has to do his part 1 from scratch its a disgrace.

Cheers lads looks Like I need to get it booked or find a cancellation lol..

book ur part 2 take the time off when you get your cert I will put you in contact with a guy for your e portfolio which will all be done on your skills database which they will give you a unique password and user name if your on good money now you will be on even better money after you have done your 10 day course so don't worry about it and try get some weekend work to make ends meet there are plenty of companies out there that will recognise just your part 2 cert even before you get your tickets bigdogs so go fot it before it is too late mucker any problems drop me a pm glad to help

This is my first time posting on the forum not even sure i am posting in the right place but does anybody have any of the drawings for the scaffolds that are erected on the part 2 course. Booked on my part 2 end of Oct. The small firm i work for just does streetwork, thing is we havent had hardly anything on this last 3 months, boss is winding down for retirement but i still have access to yard and kit to get on thd spanners before my course.
