Hey, i currently have my second part 1 card which expires in july so i am wanting to do my part 2 as soon as possible. im currently out of work at the moment so i cant afford to pay for my part 2 now. Im just wondering if anyone knows of anyway i can get funding to do my part 2 anywhere. Iv asked the jobcentre but they say there is no funding available.

Ring the training centers and ask them they do a certain amount of free courses think you just have to pay for the assessment six months after the course

I spoke to citb about a month ago and they said there was funding for part 2 course I actually posted a thread about it ;)

ok thanks, iv asked the jobcentre but they dont try and help at all they just said there is no funding available. I will phone up all the training centres in the morning and see what they say.

I have seen a few boys get their part 1 paid from them if they manage to get an agency to write a letter saying there is work available for part 1's.

Funding depends a lot on timing and where you live.

iv just phoned NETA that is in stockton and billingham that is only place i know of in my area that does the part 2 course. They just told me that i need to get the jobcentre to sort out the funding but when i ask the jobcentre they just say there is no funding available so i dont know what i can do.

If you can find an employer who will write a letter they may change their stance.

The main CITB centres normally have a wide range of part funding but only limited amount of full funding is available which is normally only available to under 24s.
AOM is right potentially if you could get a scaff company to right you a letter to say that if you had the qualification they would give you a job will sometimes be jobcentre funded -alternitive is part funding by the citb which will cover your course fees but not the food & accom,& the final assesment all of which can mount up to over a grand

Thanks, i have got a scaffolding job now and my boss said he would put me through my part 2 once iv got a few more months experience. My part 1 card expires in july so im just wondering if i would be ok to do my part 2 course in july just before my part 1 card runs out? a few people have told me that i need to do my part 2 now then do 3- 6 months working and doing my portfolio then do my 1 day assessment all before my part 1 card runs out in july? surely as long as i do my part 2 course before the end of july when my part 1 card runs out that would be ok? then i can get my porfolio together then work a few more months then do my assessment.

If your only just about to renew ur trainnees tckt it may be worth getting a little more experiance before expecting someone to put u onto the prt2...in my experiance its quite unusual for employers to keep to there word when taking on new staff & often promise them what they know they want to hear.
my advise to you would be happy days youve got a job but untill ur on the course dont count ur chickens-put some money away each week(as much as u can afford) that way if ur let down u can self finance if after 6 months ur no closervto getting it.
i know some trainng centres allow you to sit pt2 b4 u should but i think theres a set criteria for the nvq & timescales

yeah i know what you mean, im just happy that im scaffolding again and i want to work hard and gain more and more expericene. iv already renewed my part 1 card once before so this is my second card thats why im worried if there is a set time that i have to have done my part 2 by? i wasnt in scaffolding work for a long time and did various other jobs thats why all that time went by and i still havnt moved onto my part 2. i know im not experienced enough to do my part 2 yet but my part 1 runs out in july and iv been told that if i dont have my part 2 by then i will never be able to do it again?
