Part 1 looking for work in and about South Wales also have my tagging card

Hi mate thank you, a tagging card is a two day inspection course on if u pass, u will trust me you can hand over your own jobs and other people's even advanced scaffolders work and the seven day inspection, very handy tho have cost bout 400 but can get it cheaper no doubt

Easy, any one with 6 months experience of scaffolding , and pass the test even site managers were on the same course,

How the feck can a part one inspect an advanced scaffold. No disrespect pal but do you know what your looking for in a canterlever dropper, can you tell theres enought weight for counterbalence, if the ties are correct. Can you tell its been erected to the drawing...if you anwser no to any of those then you best throw the card away.

True, true but this is what they try and teach u on these courses and u get a proxy test at the end u go out to site and do inspections and are expected to spot faults, been scaffolding ten years pal but only now doing card as new regulations making it compulsary

What new regulations?
 
Well I been working for Mickey Mouse outfits and I've just started for a "tidy" firm and they insisted I went on this course so really there regulations
 
That has to be the most contradicting thing i have heard , that a part 1 scaffolder can inspect Advanced work when he hasn't been taught that work yet him self, any wonder this games in the state its in.
 
What inspecting scaffolds to there regs or proper h + s inspection regs.
We have 4 qualified inspectors at our place, and not one inspects their own job, it takes some working out logisticly, as were based over the west mids, worc, and herefordshire. But it takes away that complacency, which we've all been if were honest

Where not offended ( well iam not ) it just seems crazy thats all , surly it would be better to teach them their trade first, is a part 1 allowed to work unsupervised , if not how the hell can he tag his own work , its not really his LOL
 
Aint that a ball and chain HSWT , thats silly how would that help a part 1 , he would never be able to get of the ground

This just shows why we need to get behind the SA, so we can get these veiws over and have someone to back us up. Idea.
