Is paint proof of ownership? reason i ask is when i am driving around town and i see jobs up , well some jobs seemed to be multi coloured, obvously ramping tube with the company name is the best way but not all scaffold companies can afford it .

So where do you stand when you can see your own gear with your colour in someone elses job?

you go and strike it out , or go down there yard and knock em out, some paint apparently can be used as proof of ownership via chemical build up ect - security paint , however never had that situation in the past , ramping is an effective method too

Here's anouther one. We bought some second hand tube from generation and I've noticed some of the tube is ramped with other firms numbers saying "this tube is stolen from such a firm" and also some of the tube is painted with other local companys colours.

Had a problem like this in the past. Every colour of paint has a RAL number. It is like a number assigned to a shade of paint. If you have say 2 colours which are unique then you can get it tested and prove that the RAL numbers match that of your paint.

Our situation was that a small company set up using the same two colours as us except that there was a slight difference in shade from one of the colours. We buy our paint from a proper distributor and this other guy bought random stuff. When he accused us of robbing his gear he got all shirty and came down our yard shouting the odds. I refered him to the RAL system and showed him our paint tins and sprayer etc... After telling him that a call to the police asking to inspect his yard for our gear maybe made he soon disappeared.

remember sgb colour pink. apparently it was specially manufactured for them exclusively.they could always then identify their gear.of course they had the buying power to be able to have the monopoly on that shade of pink..Brandy.

looks like they have gone back to pink and green this end
