I take it with more drydock maintenance and the extra platforms out at sea; they'll be crying out for more scaffs..

Good on them, they should think themselves lucky though, I see another shipyard this time in Buckie has went into administration.

i worked on her offshore with SGB good wee number NO TELES in the rooms so the crack was goood at night
ahh the good old days;)

Are you on there Anto? I'm afraid I am with happy on this one, tv's in individual rooms ruined the craic offshore.

All mind numbing stuff Stella. These programmes are made to chemically castrate your average male and may explain your recent decline in attaining intercourse with the good lady.

No Alistair... I'm on a pipe laying vessel off Norway at the moment... Was on the ocean early last year in InverG, we did the whole under deck then.... But your right about the tv being a distraction..... Generally I would spend some off my off time to mix with the lads for the crack and just use the tv in my cabin for the 24 hr porn, helps one sleep:blink1:
Crew change due tomorrow, some poor sods have been on for quite a bit.... But due to the unfortunate accident with the helicopter crash,,,,they will not be getting off until maybe later in the week.
Anyhow, The ocean princess going into able yard is welcome for the surrounding community, I worked there 2 year ago, on some ensco jack ups.

Did you do the underdeck from the ground? I've never done it from the ground but it must be the most irritating jobs in the yard.

One does need a bit of help to sleep from time to time out there.

No Alistair .ya' need a mountain off gear to come from below. Kicked it off over the side. Couple of squads, working to the same measure...ll comes together.
There's a pic of ocean princess under deck in me album " naked women" the job is in process of being dismantled....ya can see new paint work....
P.s. ya must be over 18 to view album.

Never done it from the ground up, but watched in horror some years back as they did one rig from the deck at Invergordon. I know there would have been a reason but it would still have been a nightmare.

HSWT started a thread a few days ago wanting to know if you still built them from the old Dumbarton springboard, how did you get under?

the under deck is generally always done by hanging the legs are done from the ground if in dry dock,or off the pontoons at Quayside.
I worked on its sister the Nomad at Inver G in 2001 good laugh with little or no safety.Working over the side with a lifejacket and no reels to hook on BUT IT WAS FUN and the job GOT DONE HAPPY DAYS INDEED;)

Most of these semi's have access hatches down to the top of the legs, so ya can kick off from there.... And sometimes ya just kick off a horse, pad eye to the floor....go over the side ,,, go own till ya clear the bottom underside,,, then go in....sometimes...ya can have a hatch cut in the deck.

Did the under deck of the morecombe flame jack up by welding the tubes to the flat underdeck and spanning with STEEL unit beams, while picking up the middle back to the beams by using turfers WHICH WOULDNT BE ALLOWED NOWADAYS AS WE ARE NOT RIGGERS AND NO LIFTING PLAN BAWLICKS
we worked from a barge in port glasgow which is tidal so you had to pull out on ropes and pull in when the tide was rising all good fun, which again would be banned nowadays:cry:

We did something similar with pad eyes and layher. Beam out punch up then weld and test. We didn't realise that the beam we were using was bent and the job was running down hill rapid but a few tugs with a block and chain soon had us on the level again. :embarrest:

Can't get them all right.
