rumor has it a local firm was asked to take the scaffold down as it didnt have a permit the owners reply was ill take you down b4 that comes down or along the lines the reply form the council official was a long the line of well i clock off at 4.30 and by 4.32 ill be clocking you :laugh: just a rumor dont know if its true lol
The company should have had a permit (if one was required).
I know the councils were given new powers (which they enforce like Nazi's), but surely it's a grey area if they are removing peoples gear. Makes them an accessory to theft surely?
We've had a few arguements lately with local councils telling us we had to have permits when the job has actually been on private property.
We had one council jobsworth who inspected the scaffold after it was erected and rang us to say he'd condemned it. His reason was we hadn't left a ladder from ground level up to the first lift. We explained that the job was on the main street in Berwick and it would be dangerous to leave a ladder in place.
He phones back and tells us on this occasion he will make an exception.
Talk about a little knowledge being a dangerous thing
