So a loss-making business run by the scaffolding equivalent of failed estate agents, with names like 'Nick' and 'Richard' and women with names like 'Sue' and 'Barbara' in cheap trouser suits, decides to spend more money that the business doesn't have, on re-branding it's scaffolding division?

THAT is the sort of business that I like competing against.

Phil does sound rough and rugged mind, couldn't imagine an insurance broker from High Wycombe with such a 'street' name.

SO YOU KNOCK PEOPLE OUT WHILE DOING THE JIVE:eek:
it takes all sorts to make a world

SGB is one of the best brand names in the industry, my contacts tell me they are investing 'big time' in materials and management from the industry..no more graduates just pure scaffolding people.they are homing in on major projects in the UK.

Is your contact the purple head found within your trousers?

I worked for brand and thyssenkrupp in the states and there amount of gear and infrastructure makes cape look small, people have no idea the size of this outfit and if they invest in sgb I guarantee you it will be a game changer !

It is good to hear they are going to focus on industry experts for the management positions.
It is high time people like Roger Nutkins (the Guru) were given the shout.

Invest all they want, I have seen the downfall of this firm over the years before I left for greener grass. You can change the name, but it is the same poor firm with poor pay, poor management, ***** jobs...... and .... cuplok...

I am of the same mind as Happy...Historically, the Name SGB is second to non, indeed it was a pioneer of our Industry. Horizon Scanning SGB increased Market Share ?, as with Happy, I would like to see SGB move their Operations to the Oil and Energy Sector...

SGB has the pedigree, however, can they recruit the correct people in order to succeed...

But hayho what the feck do I know Im only a hairy assed Scaff, perhaps, SGB will merely plod on in the Domestic and Commercial Sector, NOT...

Considering that even the best scaffolding contractors find it hard to find competent staff, how exactly do SGB expect to recruit top-quality staff when the people who are doing the recruiting have little knowledge and no background history of the industry?

Most major scaffolding contracts are won on the basis of relationships with the client, competitive pricing and QA, not how much kit you have or what the name of your company is.

Want to lose some money? Invest in this little venture.

Of course Harsco have been in business a lot longer than SGB ever was. They now realize that they bought a sinking ship with a pretty dopey crew and have passed off some of the cost to another company. Pretty much as Mowlems did many years ago.

Bloody hell and there was me thinking it was all down to the size of the brown envelope.
I must learn to be less cynical!

Things are certainly different in the UAE.

Things are certainly different in the UAE.

In a 2013 report 49% of those asked said that bribery and corruption was alive and kicking in the UK construction industry. 35% said they had been offered incentives or bribes with a further 4% declining to comment.
Of course it occurs in other countries but we should be man enough to admit it happens at home too!

Oh well it must be true then if a survey published on the internet says so!
