Hi All,
I moved from the south of England to Aberdeen 3 years ago to try and get offshore work as a Roustabout, but this hasn't happened due to the downturn.
I've been working as maintenance man for Mitie group in Aberdeen Colleges for the last 18months of this but I've decided now to move to Hull to be with my girlfriend there and her 2 sons so she can complete a Masters degree, starting in September.
I've worked on building sites and in maintenance since I left school (I'm 28 now), and have knowledge and experience in most areas, but no formal qualifications. Basically, I'm a semi-skilled tradesman at the mo, but have no certificates to show for it...
So, I'd like to do an Apprenticeship in Scaffolding. Getting some formal training and a trade is more important than a big wage right now.
I know it's a tough climate down there at the moment, but does anyone know of a company that may be willing to take on an Apprentice Scaffolder?
I got my CSCS card last Friday, and if there were a guaranteed job/Apprenticeship offer, I'd be willing to put myself through any further training.
I move to Hull next Thursday (1st April) and will be available for work any time after that.
My CV and covering letter are ready to email, so if you know of anyone that it would be worth sending to I'd really appreciate any local knowledge, otherwise it'll just be a case of printing my CV off and taking it round to all those Google throws up when I get down there.
Cheers,
Albion (Beano)
