Man recovering in hospital after falling from scaffolding at Bidston Viaduct
A MAN was in hospital after falling while working on some scaffolding at the Bidston Viaduct on the M53.
Repair work on the Junction one bridge has been ongoing since 2005 when £4m was pumped into the project to strengthen it, causing delays for drivers travelling between the Mersey Tunnel and M53.
The worker, aged 54, slipped and fell on the scaffolding which is under junction one of the motorway, at around 9.35 this morning.
He dropped six-feet, injuring his knee.
Mersey Fire and Rescue sent two crews to help to rescue the man, using a basket stretcher.
He was lowered to safety and taken by ambulance to Arrow Park Hospital.
