Man charged with causing GBH on Cumbrian street remanded in custody

A Workington man accused of grievous bodily harm after an assault in the town on Saturday has been remanded in custody.
Stephen Ronald Bigrigg, 50, of Peter Street, is accused of unlawfully and maliciously causing grievous bodily harm to Robert Wilson with intent.
Mr Wilson, 43, suffered serious head and facial injuries in an incident on Jane Street at 6.50pm.
Bigrigg, a scaffolder at Sellafield, entered no plea when he appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates’ Court.
The case was committed to Carlisle Crown Court, where Bigrigg is due to appear on November 7.
Mr Wilson was today said to be in a serious condition in hospital.
