Anyone bought or use a 18 v Makita skill saw ,
Was thinking of buying one and wondered what the drain on a battery etc was like :wondering:

I got one last year. Brilliant bit of kit. Ive got 3ah batteries and can do 20 to 30 cuts . Also got the recip and hammer drill to. Very impressed with them all.

What size blades does it use Gents?

Tony what's the resip saw like for cutting tubes ,
Just not convinced an 18v battery is up the job

The recip saw is quality for cutting tube. Get a good few cuts out a battery and can still use a pin or a sleeve on the cut. I couldn't do without it now.

Thank you lads ,
What about the Makita batterys on eBay ?
The ones that are not Makita but half the price any good ?

I've got some Mikita and non makita battery's and you couldn't tell the difference. There is a massive difference between the 3ah and 5ah batteries though. The 5ah lasts at least twice as long as the 3.

The cheap bats are ok Phil, I ordered a few for a mate, says theyre good.As an alround saw, thought the recip would be the only saw a scaff would need!??

Being a perfectionist Fred I find the resip saw cuts boards a bit wonky ,
Or maybe it's me that's a bit wonky lol

lol, got your impact, now a skilly and recip, turning into a chippy now then phil.If yur going wonky with the recip, a new blade might be needed, as a chippy you should know once the blade has lost its set, will never cut straight mate.;):D

What chance would a scaffolders saw have Fred,
Thrown on the back of a lorry amongst all the kit ,
Left out in all weathers , think I would loose my set pretty quick as well lol

Hi phil - long time no chat m8.
All our vechiles av a recip, skillsaw & impact driver - we use them daily its true whats been said about the batterys though.
We use dual universal blades in both saws & they cut both brds & tube really well with neither burrs or sparks....tbh i wouldnt be without them now

That's some outlay for each van southernpoofter FairPlay to you though, but what's the impact driver for?

If we have to lap brds (which sometimes we all may have to& is often unavoidable) the contractors ask us to screw them down - also we do a lot of birdcages where its a spanner not a majic wand so inevitably we may have to put ply down or fillets over openings & they all need securing
