Morning all.

Just joined the site, I'm 24 years of age, based in the Kent/London area. I'm looking to get into the scaffolding business. I've done general labouring in the past but nothing to do with scaffolding. I'm looking to work as a scaffolders labourer to start off then work up and get my level 1 & 2. I'm just looking for the opportunity to get my foot on the ladder.

Any work in these areas, please let me know.

Much appreciated.

Charlie

No point, he'll get abused and paid £60 or £70 a day.

Yes as an ex supervisor on there u would know that better than anyone Chris what there like but the only other firm ( that I can think of ) that takes labourers on and trains em is admirals which I personally would rather the rock and roll than get on there, and I won't say sgb because they only use cup lock

I thought most of their labourers were Eastern European? My last experience working for them I had 2 Bulgarian labourers who barely spoke English, and it took the 2 of them to carry 1 13ft board... Happy days.

An English one should be a breath of fresh air then mukka

Tbh @ entry level thats all he's worth....needs to invest in himself buiding bridges 2day to cross 2moro.

thats the thing thats wrong wiv our system any mug can be zero to hero in 18months by buying their tickets, but its experiance that makes a good scaff great.

dont worry about the earache your gonna get on the forum but dont expect to be a scaff overnite or start on big bucks - of course your gonna get used & abused as a labourer/trainee -thats the price uve gotta pay to learn your trade.

Too true, and you might need some tips on how to avoid too much abuse. Also, keep the scaffolders supplied with right-handed sleeves, never give them the left-handed ones, and you'll be fine.
