I was there too...only about 22 years ago.
The caissons for the Skye Bridge were cast in Kishorn dock, and floated out to site, sunk and filled.
My job was to run the ballast monitoring system when we floated and resank the dock gate. There are two concrete dock gates, 14,000 tons each made up of about 30 separate cells. We only needed to move one. We installed submersible pumps in each and a large genset plus switching panels.
I fitted the water depth monitors in exch cell and operated the computer that collated all the depths and logged to 5" floppy in case the thing rolled over.
The place was like a ghost of what I assume it was like duting its former use. Sad, but a beautiful place.
