Due to a Career path diversion, I am obliged to attend Adv Scaff + SITS, Jan and Feb respectively, Iv had to wait for a place for these Courses for Four Months is this the norm for places in Scotland…

As far as I am aware there is only one CISRS Training provider in Scotland, my question is: is there a case for an other NCC to Training Provider in the North of Scotland ???

All feedback comments greatly received and faithfully applied...

They tell me that it's already in hand. The wheels move very slowly with this side of industry though. If I was a private provider, I would certainly cast an eye north of the border and knock their socks off. One such provider did consider it some time ago. Their biggest miscalculation was location location location. They came to the conclusion that there was more of an East West divide rather than North and South. A basic error I know, probably explains why they fell at the first hurdle.

@ Imk…thanks for that info…I had a meeting with David Mosely in Aberdeen some years age to discuss a proposal to establish a Training Academy in Aberdeen…the Government of the day instructed the Treasury to give the proposal due diligence, which they did and recommended Government part Funding, however, a change of PM put the kibosh on the proposal and it sank without trace ( perhaps until now )…I think that there is a case for another Training Provider in Scotland...

4 months is certainly a long time to wait, not the worst scenario I have heard by far though. There is a huge gap at the moment, how long that will remain to be the case is open to debate.

lmk…seems like the UK CISRS Training Providers are willing to set up in various Global Locations, however, not willing to establish North of the boarded…its a pity really...

New markets, new money. To my knowledge, it's private providers setting up all over the globe. Others appear to be stuck in their ways. Why do they need to invest, when you're already willing to wait months and still go to them.

A bit devils advocate, but you will get the sentiment.

lmk…new and the expansion of existing Markets is a lucrative Business and I wish all success to the two ( UK ) main Overseas Providers…and yes, I had to wait 4 Months and yes I sill had to go to the NCC for the Courses, there was no where else in Scotland to go…I did look at the Providers in England, however, Travel Costs ect proved prohibitive...

Hence the lack of urgency. It may take a more forward thinking provider to take up the slack.

Garry, There Was A Training Centre In Dundee Applied For Cisrs Accreditation, But In The Words Of The Proposed Manager They Were Made To Jump Through So Many Hoops And So Much Red Tape It Wasnt Viable, I Personally Cant Understand Why There Hasnt Been One Long Before Now, Its Long Overdue.

Ger…aye, NASC/ CISRS Criteria is stringent, dimensions of facility ect and can only Teach Basic for the first year ect…its a long term investment...

lmk…yes, a forward thinking Provider to take the slack…speculate to accumulate…perhaps I'll contact the Scottish Government and see that their thoughts are, perhaps, they will invest...

It Would Be Great To Have A Training Centre On Your Doorstep Plus Its A Huge Catchment Area, Plus Its Really Quite A Captive Market (If You Think About It) So I Would Say Yes There Is Definetly Room For Another Traing Centre On The East Coast, Im Actually Surprised Someone Like Petrofac Havent Started One, They Seem To Be Moving Into Everything Else.

I worked for Petrofac and Scaffolding Training is the only Discipline that they can't make in roads with in the UK…however, I did set up the Scaffolding and Rigging Faculty at the Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic in Dammam Saudi for Petrofac Saudi Arabia…Enermec are making in roads to Scaffold Training also all be it overseas...

I Honestly Think That It Would Work Garry Because A Lot Of Scaffold Companies See Glasgow As Dead Time, There Is No Complaints About The Training Mate Just The Time Involved Actually Getting There.

I did notice that a bit of a consortium has now come to the fore in Saudi, featuring our old friends at Falck. Could be the start of something.

Ger…Iv no complaint regarding the Training…however, the Curriculum is based onshore work…perhaps, it time for bolt on special structures which are found in our Energy Sectors ???. aye, and the Traveling is a nippy sweaty...

lmk…Petrofac lost 2 Million + on their Saudi Joint venture…TQ are strong Training provide there at the moment…Saudi are difficult to work with, it takes for ever to get anything sanctioned PO's ect…as long as you devise the training in conjunction with Aramco GI's and bolt on UK standards all is well…

Enermec are trying to fill the void that petrofac left, we shall see how they get on...

let the mountain come to mohammed:eek:
