Interserve wins Runcorn energy from waste and NHS work
Interserve has won work worth £14 million at a Runcorn energy-from-waste plant and has won a place on an NHS carbon reduction framework worth £100m.
Interserve will provide mechanical and process engineering services to install major equipment items at the Runcorn facility as well as providing other works including scaffolding services worth up to £4m.
The firm will be working under engineering, procurement and construction contractor Keppel Seghers during phase one of the project.
Interserve industrial managing director Bill Craig said: "The plant is one of the largest waste and renewable energy projects in Europe and Interserve's involvement will consolidate our position as a leading solutions provider in this growing UK market sector.
"We are looking forward to working with Keppel Seghers on what we are sure will be an exciting and challenging project to bring renewable energy sources to a wide area."
The energy-from-waste plant will include a combined heat and power plant capable of processing 420,000 tonnes per year of solid recovered fuel derived from household waste.
Meanwhile Interserve has won a place on the £100m NHS Shared Business Services Framework Agreement for the Provision of Carbon and Energy Infrastructure Upgrades.
The four-year framework aims to reduce the carbon footprint and energy used by more than 50 NHS Trusts.
Interserve will provide technical solutions which could include CHP, biomass, anaerobic digestion, solar photovoltaic and behavioural change.
